Not a bad addition if you ask me.

Billy Volek has shown he can play well, and it's always nice to add some depth, just in case Phillip Rivers goes down.

Hmmm he wasn't happy not being the starter in Tennessee.. and now he is gonna be happy not being the starter in San Diego...doesn't make sense to me....decent backup though if he is happy.

I think the reason he wasn't happy in Tennessee is that he WAS the starter until they signed that hack Collins - who they put in with minimal practice, minimal knowledge of the offense and a minimal track record.
I'd be pissed off, too, if that were me.

In SD, he knows going in that he's not the starter.
Not that he has any choice in the matter.

Jeff Fisher is losing his mind, BTW.

San Diego's got a young backup in Whitehurst, I wonder why they traded for Volek?

I feel bad for Billy though. I think he deserves a shot at starting...especially over Kerry f'n Collin.
Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

Same reason we traded for Brooks Bollinger.
You don't want your #2 QB to be someone who's never played.
Especially (as in SD's case) if your #1 has barely played.

I guess so...but I personally would rather play Travaris over Bollinger if Brad ever got hurt. Plus if you do this and your young QB's never see the field, how are they ever going to get experience?

They lay the foundation of the game in their early years.
Watch the tapes, watch the progressions from the sidelines, learn all the intangibles that most of us never even think about.

The same way that Daunte did.
Sit for a year, absorb the offense and the speed of the game, and then be ready to take the reigns of the offense in year 2 (or 3).

Please don't forget that TJack did everything he did in the pre-season against backups and guys who got cut.
He's never taken ONE SINGLE SNAP against front-line NFL players.
