Vikings of '69 of NFL network

    Wow!
    For anyone who might want to see and experience what the original Viking essence is all about, check out the Missing Rings series on the NFL Network;
they just broadcast the story of the 1969 Vikings and it was awesome. Very nicely done with super interviews with Joe Kapp, Bud Grant and Jim Larsen...a super introspective about the original Purple People Eaters with absolutely stunning video from the day!
Really worth the watch...and you gotta love those head tackles they use to do in those days!

I sure wish those rings weren't missing.

I think in the commercial the general feelings of every player and fan was summed up in what Marshall said, but I can't find the quote..

Marshall said "it still tortures me to this day, I cant get over it, it haunts me."

Every time I see the clip of Hank Stram laughing about the "62 toss power sweep" I want to vomit!

Re: Vikings of '69 of NFL network

NFL Films has produced a new series of shows.
They are meant to highlight some of the great NFL Teams who did not win the Super Bowl.

    I just watched America's Game
    "The Missing Rings:
    1969 Minnesota Vikings."
There are many NFL Films shows which highlight past players like Page, Marshall, Tarkenton, however, this is probably the best compilation of interviews, highlights, and insights into a Team which explains why I'm a Vikings fan.

Imagine watching this season unfold as a 7-year old South Dakota boy as I was fortunate enough to have experienced.
I grew up idolizing Lonnie Warwick, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall, Alan Page, Bud Grant, and Bill Brown.

How on earth Jim Marshall is not in the Hall of Fame, is beyond me.
The leadership qualities that the men on that team had are legendary in my opinion...all spearheaded by Marshall, Grant, and Kapp.

40 for 60 was brilliant, but the background to where it came from is impressive to me...never really had an appreciation, until watching this show, of Joe Kapp's leadership qualities.
Yeah, he was tough, always knew that, but, wow, what a leader he was.
I guess I was always tainted by the way he left, and how his career ended.

Wow, what a team, and, what a show.
Check it out on NFL Network.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent
