Just because a person raised fighting dogs, killing some that didn't make the grade, doesn't mean they can't be compassionate with a house pet.

I'm torn on this. As part of Vick's punishment he is banned from owning another pet. Now I have a couple of questions.
1) Does anyone think if Vick owns a dog he would do anything to hurt it? If he is a sane human being my answer would be no. Especially with all the eyes that will be on him. IMO any pet he owns from here on out would be treated as a king. He would probably be able to save some dogs from being put down.
2) Even if he is not aloud to own another pet how will anyone stop him? Think about it. Say Vick gets involved with a girl who already owns a dog. What will the law do about it? They can't make the girl get rid of the dog and they can't stop Vick from living with the girl who owns the dog.
Therefore, IMHO, there is no way they would be able to stop him from owning a pet and if he did the pet would be treated very well. I'm am usually a person that states the person has to take the punishment given but in this case I believe either way it can't be stopped and it will most likely be a deed that helps an animal on skid row.
Allow Vick to own a dog but make him meet with PAWS or whatever Society is in that area at least once a month to make sure the dog is okay. If any abuse is even hinted Vick should go back to jail.
Sure, let Ron Mexico have a puppy. Right after that let the child molesters open up a day care center. There's no point in enforcing his sentence, he has served his time. He has performed on the football field. He is getting his wages garnished due to his past decisions in life. The least we could do for the poor guy is to give him a puppy. Preferably a starving psychotic rabid one.

Not that what he did was right.....he just got piled on by a culture that tends to be overly harsh on people like him.
