Vanderjagt claims intelligence
Cowboys | Vanderjagt says critics are wrong about him
Sun, 16 Jul 2006 06:08:22 -0700
Mac Engel, of the Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys PK Mike Vanderjagt knows exactly how he is perceived. "Overly opinionated. Talks too much. He's cocky," the Cowboys' kicker said. Vanderjagt knows many fans see him as the "drunk, idiot kicker" who missed the biggest field-goal attempt of his career. Vanderjagt regrets the interview he gave earlier in his career about Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning. "The Peyton interview is clearly something I wished I hadn't done. End of story," he said. "It wasn't worth it." He is tired of a reputation that he feels is inflated and largely undeserved. Vanderjagt is a prime example of the burned athlete, the guy who learned the price of saying what's on his mind. He understands the price of what he said; he just wants to know when he's done paying. He missed a huge kick in the AFC Championship game last year and he wants a chance to redeem himself. He plans to play for the Cowboys for three seasons and hopes for one more year after that before he retires.

Re: Vanderjagt claims intelligence
Vanderjagt is still a great kicker.. I am sure many teams would love to have this guy on their team.. If he says he regrest what he said about Manning, then let it slide and move on.. He is on a different team now, time to start over fresh with new teamates..
