Here's hoping you're right...This would never happen, both sides have way too much to lose.
At least with the NHL lockout, a lot of owners actually saved money by not having a season...Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Unless I'm way off here, each sport has a Players Union.Union BS...the NFL is the only sports league that has it right.
I hated Upshaw as a player and can't stand him as the Union Chief...putz; stick that in your peace pipe and smoke it
:
I mean I know MLB does headed by Donald Fehr.
I know the NBPA does Exectudive Director is William Hunter.
Unless there is a difference between a "Players Association" and a "Union", in which case, I would be out of knowledge as to the difference.
But the other sports have had similar difficulties with lockouts....

Re: Upshaw forsees a Lockout in 2011
The main sticking point is that the owners feel the players make tooo much money and they the really rich owners don't know how or want to do revenue sharing... and so since they can't agree on how to do revenue sharing the only option they foresee is to take it back from the players... which is ridiculous..
I say.. compromise... Have a rookie salary cap scale like the NBA does.. this would make the incoming rookies much more affordable and not give them insane amounts of money based on never playing a game in the NFL...
curtail the overall salary cap of roughly 40% given to the players to 35% and adjust based on growing TV revenue sales and merchandise.. the remaining funds allocated to rookies before can now go towards adjusting deserving players salaries...
With the remaining 5% from the players salaries give 2-3%to the veterans Fund for their time that they put into the league and medical expenses..
The remaining 3% plus any bottom revenue over a certain threshold of High revenue market teams can go towards revenue sharing......
Reduce Gene Upshaw's insanely large salary of upwards of $5Mill a year and give $3 mill of that to the veterans..
everybody wins...
