Unrestricted Free Agents In 2010
At the moment, I like the 49'ers defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin.
He's the perfect replacement for our belowed Pat Williams. Pat is getting up there in age, but Franklin is only 29 and is an excellent run stopper.
I also like Ryan Clark of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is an excellent safety and we could definitely need an upgrade in the secondary.
I would also be happy if either Julius Peppers or Aaron Kampman was signed to replace Ray Edwards on the left side. Don't get me wrong, we don't really need an upgrade at LE because Edwards is doing a good job, but NFL is about getting the best players as possible. With Peppers or Kampman, Vikings will have 4 Pro Bowls on the defensive line alone.
We already have the consistent and perhaps the best pass rushing DT in a 4-3 defensive scheme and arguably the best pass rushing right end in a 4-3 scheme. Imagine if we add arguably two of the best pass rushing left ends in a 4-3 scheme in the mix and we won't even have to blitz opposing teams
LOL
;D
Then there is Chester Taylor... I really don't want to lose this guy. I can always rely on Chester when Adrian Peterson goes down with an injury. Remember when Adrian went down late in the season in his rookie year? Chester stepped up and we won all 4 games without Adrian.

List of the most attractive unrestricted free-agents in 2010:
1. Vince Wilfork, NT, New England.
2. Karlos Dansby, MLB, Arizona.
3. Julius Peppers, DE, Carolina.
4. Aubrayo Franklin, NT, San Francisco.
5. Kevin Walter, WR, Houston.
6. Ryan Pickett, NT, Green Bay.
7. Ryan Clark, FS, Pittsburgh.
8. Aaron Kampman, OLB/DE, Green Bay.
9. Antonio Bryant, WR, Tampa Bay.
10. Justin Bannan, DT, Baltimore.
11. Darren Sharper, FS, New Orleans.
12. Brian St. Pierre, QB, Arizona.
13. Ben Watson, TE, New England.
14. Roy Williams, S, Cincinnati.
15. Chad Pennington, QB, Miami.
16. Chester Taylor, RB, Minnesota.

Upon further review, the unrestricted free-agency list is not so bad.

I wrote a few weeks ago that the UFA class of 2010 would be horrible, because it wouldn't include unsigned fourth- and fifth-year vets if the league and union don't have a new CBA done by March. But because of the rise of players like Aubrayo Franklin and the promise of interesting prospects like Brian St. Pierre, the list looks a little better now. Not good, but not as bad as it looked on Labor Day.

Assuming that Phat Pat will be back along with K Will. Could you imagine Peppers on out line.
We wouldn't need much of a tweak/maturity in the CB/S (Sapp, Allen, MWil, TJ) play to be a monster D.
Peppers is a beast.
I really think that we got some Hovan like guy right now that can play the role of DT well with 2 book ends like Peppers and JA.
I know that peeps love C.Tay, but how much is he used.
If we can get him to stay that is great.
I would love it.
I would shore up the Defense before anything.
What happens if Favre leaves after this season or when he leaves in two years?
We need to look as much like the Ravens model if we go with Sage and TJ.

Chester Taylor, RB, Minnesota
I hope we re-sign him. I love this guy. It seems whenever Peterson is having a tough guy, Chester pulls through.

I disagree. AD will always be used on short yardage situations, making such a back more useless than Taylor's current role. Taylor, or at least a guy like Taylor, is exactly what we need."VikesFan787" wrote:

Just a guy to give AD a breather?
AD is used in short yards because the Vikes don't have a BIG back or a good ball carrying FB. AD is the only other choice.
Do you remember Leroy Hoard?
He was a great short yardage guy to complement Robert Smith.
Leroy had a great quote "If you need 2 yds I'll get you 3, if you need 5 yds I'll get you 3"
or something like that.
BIG BACK is what the Vikes need, especially when AD can handle 3rd down duties.

Re: Unrestricted Free Agents In 2010
I would Vote Peppers but his price tag will be 60 mil+
Wilfolk will be about 60 mil +
Kampman will be about 40 mil +
Adding any of there guys will aid our team. Edwards is a free agent and he will probably want a pay day around 20- 30 million. I say break the bank and go after a game changer.
I would love to see
