An unofficial guide to the draft
Normally I think Kirwan talks out of his ass, but I actually liked this article. An unofficial guide to the draft
By Pat Kirwan
(April 10, 2007) -- No matter how your favorite team stacks its own draft board, no matter what the team needs are and regardless of the free-agent activities surrounding your squad, there are a few unofficial guidelines that I might keep next to me come Draft Weekend...
Particularly point #11: Listen to the one scout in the draft room who's opinion is contrary to the group.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: An unofficial guide to the draft
Almost like this thing was written with the Vikes in mind:
1. Don't take one guy with a character alert: (any names come to mind)
3. Don't pass on a franchise quarterback: (Especially if they fall to 7)
6. Always let the game tapes trump the workout in shorts: (T-will)
8. Sign the two biggest offensive linemen not drafted: (Duh)
12. Draft a basketball forward who was a very good high school football player: (Aren't we already looking at a guy. Whats his name)Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

I would like it, but just have to put alot of value on lots of picks as this staff continues down the whole "Build Through The Draft" thought process. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: An unofficial guide to the draft
I really believe that the Vikings did most of this stuff last year and it got Fran Foley fired. I don't know that he was a good GM but I think that sometimes you have to go with the best available player or trade down to where you think that your specific need should be drafted. I like the idea of the Vikings trading down to get Dewayne Jarrett. I believe that you really DO have to look at the highlight reels and not the combine. Larry Fritzgerald wasn't the fastest wideout, that even stopped him from going to a premiere college, but he is considered in the top 15 at wideout in the NFL. So in general I think that the Vikings need to make a move to draft Jarrett late in the 1st round and possibly Ginn of Michael Bush in the second. Just My opinion take it as is.

The "After One Season" judgement on the draft he led is pretty good, which might help him find a job in the future if he can stop offending everyone he ever meets.
