Trucking Running Backs
If you believe the poll above is missing one or two considerable options, then please speak up! It's hard to remember all those great running backs.

Before I go on, the term "trucking" could be understod differently.
In my views, a "trucking running back" is a back with the mentality of a hard hitting safety. He puts his body on the line, plays hard and though all the time, and he doesn't shy away from contact.
He poessess great body control and balance in order to stay on his feet longer to get more yards.
He doesn't let anybody get in his way and many times he's a North-South runner (run straight ahead).
He doesn't necessarily need blazing speed or Eric Dickerson-like vision, but he has incredible strenght.
Upper body strenght in order to shake the defenders off, and lower body strenght to keep his feet moving. A trucking RB is typically large in size (hint: Brandon Jacobs: 6-4 ft, 264 lb), but does not necessarily have to be (hint: Jones-Drew: 5-6 ft).
I have always been a big fan of trucking running backs, not only because of the skills the possess, but also because they're very entertaining to watch.
Heres' my Top Five Greatest Trucking Running Backs of All-Time:
1. Earl Cambell
2. Walter Payton
3. Mike Alstott
4. Jamal Lewis
5. Bronko Nagurski
Here's my Top Five Best Trucking Running Backs Today:
1. Jamal Lewis
2. Marion Barber
3. Brandon Jacobs
4. Steven Jackson
5. Adrian Peterson
Btw: I think Adrian Peterson is underrated as a trucker, I remember this one game (think it was against the Packers) where AD ran like 10 yards with one defender on his back.

I voted for one historic and one current. Marion the Barbarian is probably the best trucker in the NFL current. BTW I also think Peterson is underrated as a trucker.

Troy Smith knows... Your Quaterback will know too.

Re: Trucking Running Backs
I don't know.
I guess I'd have to know how many miles they have put in over the road, what kind of licensing they have, and what kind of rig they're driving.
I mean if they're running over the road I'd probably have to go with Peyton if he was driving a Pete.
But Western Stars and Kenworths are right behind, who knows maybe Bettis is a Volvo man.
