    Re: Troy Polamalu hair tackle

Did anyone notice how last week Antrel Rolle had that violent takedown on Larry Johnson?

And now Larry Johnson is the one delievering a similar tackle on Troy Polamalu.

I find that to be a little too ironic.

Tackling by the hair is fine.
It's a little known fact that Polamalu's hair is actually his armpit hair tucked into his helmet.
That must have hurt like a beeyatch.
It's not armpit hair, it's pubic hair.

Anyone who says its not clean is an absolute ass.

It's legal to pull someone down by any part of the body that is not the horse collar or the helmet.

Hair, jerseys, legs, arms, testis, are all extensions of your body and it is %100 percent legal to be tackled by, it's his fault that he got tackled like that, and he would have scored a touchdown if he would get a man's haircut.

i think it was called as a penalty because after the play, LJ tried to pull polamalu up by his hair.

    Re: Troy Polamalu hair tackle

When I watched the replay I thought the penalty was due to safety considerations like doing a face mask.
I could care less how long his hair is, but in police work they train you to use hair holds as "compliance" come alongs.
I remember you had do do it a certain way or you could severely injure their necks.

Tackling a runner solely by grabbing his hair: legal tackle or penalty? --Joe, Birmingham, Ala.

Any player who has his hair sticking out of his helmet is fair game. A defender can grab that hair and fling the player to the ground with no danger of penalty, providing he does not grab the face mask or inside of the helmet in doing so.
