    Contract Information for Torry Holt

    7/18/2003: Signed a seven-year, $42 million contract. The deal included an $11.5 million signing bonus. 2007: $4,150,000, 2008: $5,650,000, 2009: $6,650,000, 2010: Free Agent

i wouldnt say hes declining, look at how often marc bulger was in and out of the lineup the last couple years and ul see why his numbers dropped a bit..also scott linehan has totally flopped as a coach there with his terrible decision making, and very bad luck in terms of injuries (notably orlando pace, who in reality the offense really revolves around his health)..but yah, unless we got him now, by the time he hits FA, he probably will actually start to decline
They started 13 different offensive linemen this year. Only one of them started all 16 games this season, Alex Barron.

They're entire offense was horrendous this season, with the line in shambles there is no way you can judge a Ram by their statistics. IMO Torry Holt it is a top 5 receiver in the NFL, maybe top 3.

    I agree totally

Not to mention 80 percent of the people here thought Randy Moss was declining

I don't mean to bring his name up.. But putting someone in the right situation makes wonders
I was going to bring that up too.

Plus I don't remember Holt ever having any kind of significant injury. I don't think he has any major wear on his tires. I don't think he'll be on any kind of major decline by the time he's a FA... 2010. I mean he might not be the top 3 WR he is today. It'll be interesting to see what our WR needs are come 2010.
I still say, based on his past comments in multiple situations, that Randy Moss is in the perfect situation this year only because the team is undefeated.
There is no way we have seen the last of his whining.

And why exactly is his team undefeated? Wouldn't be at least in part because they have Moss on the team would it?

With his record of 23(?) TD's this season, I'd say a little bit.

Torry Holt is a top 5 receiver in the NFL and probably a first ballot hall of famer. I wouldn't say he's declining whatsoever either. That said, this is probably useless discussion.

It will definitely not be "interesting" to see what our WR situation is after 2 more years.
I really hope we have it figured out by then.

    Re: Tory Holt

Is there any reason we are talking about this guy? He will be a Ram for TWO MORE years. Sure he is GREAT ... and I would love to have him, but he not even possible for the next two years. By the way ... people talking about him "declining" ... he just finished his 8th-straight year with at least 1,180 yards, he is the No. 1 receiver ALL-TIME in yards per game by THREE yards over Anquaun Boldin (of course those numbers will go down, but still impressive), had more receiving yards in his first seven, eight and nine years than ANY player in history, is 19th all-time in receptions and 17th all-time in receiving yards ... and for a receiver is still fairly young at age 31 (most great wideouts play effectively untill they are 35-36. i.e. Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Art Monk, James Lofton, etc.). He still has PLENTY of good years left.

Uh, because this is a football forum... and I asked a question. Two years isn't really that long my man. It's just as likely we sign Torry as any other player out there.

Yep it is a football forum. So I guess while we are at it we should throw every other free agent in the next two years into the conversation!
    :
There is no logical reason right now to discuss Torry Holt being a Viking. If you want to discuss how good the guys career is ... fine, whatever ... but discussing players who might or might not be free agents in two years begs the question why? Are there not plenty of things to talk about now?
I mean I guess it makes perfect sense for the Vikes' staff to say ... "Hey, I know we are struggling at WR, but if we can make it TWO more years, we can get a 33-year-old Torry Holt! Fuck yeah!"
