Topic Of the Day - Advertising on Uniforms
So - there's been some rumbling about how the off-season leads to mindless chatter and endless re-hashing of mock drafts and trade rumors (that's rumours, for the English).
In an effort to combat this, I'll try to post some thought-provoking topics from time-to-time, and we'll see if we can't toss around some ideas and have some interesting discussions.
So - I was thinking - should the NFL seek out sponsorship deals which include putting advertisements (or logos) on the uniforms of players.
It would probably look like the NFL Europa unis:

If that is something to pursue, should it be done on a league-wide basis or should the individual teams be able to do their own deals (like they do with stadiums)?
Chew on it and let's see where we go with this.

Re: Topic Of the Day - Advertising on Uniforms
Personaly,
I don't think I would like to see logo's on uni's...
I think it would not only make the uni's look cheap, but just that fact that players would become "Human Billboards" sounds cheap and would take away from the professional "clean and mean" look...
I say keep the advertising on the beer and soda cups and the billboards thruout the stadium...Thats where it belongs....Not on the field of play...

Re: Topic Of the Day - Advertising on Uniforms
Wouldn't bother me if it was done more subtly on the uniforms.
This could help increase the salary cap and revenues for stadiums and help the small markets get more coin into the mix.
I could really care less, we live in a capitalistic society and there is some moron that will buy damn near anything you put on the market.
If the NFL can further tap into the idiocy and make more money and make the game better for the fans and players more power to them.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Sponsor away.
They should make it interesting though.
For example, if a player is sponsoring a certain product and they get busted for doing something stupid there should be a penalty related to the established law and another penalty imposed by the sponsor that has to be done during halftime in front of the crowd...something demeaning.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. How about a Tampax Tampon box logo right above the numbers on the Green Bay Packers uniforms? Now that would be great..
