    Top 5: Running Backs

Marshall Faulk's top 5 RB's in the NFL today.

Marshall must have been having an off day, because there's no way in HELL Portis should be excluded from this list.

    Who would you take off?
    AD, LT, Tuner, WIlliams, Westbrook....
I would say possible Williams but it's really a push!

Not if you count receptions by a RB and TD scoring.

You can't simply ignore his consistency as a rusher because of his work as a receiver, especially when it exceeds the top 3 on the list in question. Williams and Turner had one good season as starters. He's rushed for over 1200 yards 6 out of 7 seasons in his career. The only time he did not eclipse that mark is when he missed half the season. A 1500+ yard rusher 3 times.

He averages 10TDs, 1315 yards, and 4.5 yards per carry on his career.

lol, personally I don't put too much emphasis on TD's scored by a running back. If you want to know why, just look at the amount of TD's Lendale White scored for the Titans last season. Why does he score that often? Because he's perfect to use on the goal line, it's that simple

Another reason Clinton Portis is easily a top 3 back is because like Peterson, he see's many 8 man fronts due to the Skins poor passing attack.

Oh, plus the fact that Clinton Portis has been very consistent, and Williams has done it for one season plays a factor as well.

    In 2008:

    * 20th in the league in yards/attempt

    * 14th in the league in rushing TDs

    * 71st in the league in longest single gain

    * Only 28 receptions out of the backfield with 0 TDs

Again, as in other threads, this comes down to what a complete RB is supposed to be.
In my estimation, that's a guy who can rush, catch passes, score TDs and block.
By 2008 measures, Portis only fits one of the 3 measurable statistics.

    Re: Top 5: Running Backs

Clinton is a MUCH better blocker then Deangelo so he takes the cake there

Clinton is a better runner IMO, he faces so many 8 man fronts much like Adrian and still produces

Clinton doesn't get as much of a chance to score TDs due to the shitty passing attack there

And that's another reason why he doesn't catch too many passes.. They suck at passing

Deangelo only had 22 receptions too.. Not quite complete

His biggest knock is his blocking cuz he really fuckin sucks at it

Id say Clinton is the more complete and better back as well

    Re: Top 5: Running Backs

And you also have to be more then a one year wonder

I think he can get better and will be a top 3

But for now I got him around 6th.. Even with 1500 yards and 20 total TDs

He is a home run hitter for now
