Yeah I mean just in terms of draft stock, Henry is never in the top 20 wrs mentioned in any of the "expert" rankings I've come across."aceclown" wrote:
How could he be compared to Marques Colston when he is the #1 WR on the #2 team in the nation? Colston came from Hofstra alot different then the #2 team in the country.I'm rolling with Marcus Henry as next years Colston.
But I do agree he is overlooked and could be a pretty good player.
Plus just watching him play is very reminiscent of Colston.
Chuch.

Other teams do it and based on what he have seen so far (very limited - 2 years) it appears that Scott and his scouts are finding quality players for the new scheme."Marrdro" wrote:

Strong armed senior quarterback has continued to impress over his final season.
Brohm is going to be gone by our pick, unless something dramatic happens.
i'd like to see some offensive weakness addressed in this upcoming draft, more specifically QB and WR. I'm convinced that TJ isn't the answer AT ALL, and it's time to bring someone else in. Problem is, we'll have to wait for that player to develop, while our team slowly ages. Our defense is in it's prime right now, and it's going to have to continue with the younger guys once the older guys retire/leave. (sharper, Phat Pat, winfield eventually)
I also hate the lack of a true #1 receiver, or even a receiver that is somewhat of a threat. Of course, that could be due to an unstable QB at the helm...
just for the sake of seeing a good QB for a change....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCL1ApVfx6s
I agree with your comment that I don't want to start to wait on a QB to start developing againg as our team ages and goes away, however, that is kindof a left over mentality that comes from the last regimes inability to draft talent.
After 2 drafts, I have no doubt that this staff can and will continue to draft quality players that will be able to step in and quicklly make us forget players of old......
With that said,
I do disagree with you.
Our defense is not in its prime.
In fact it is very young and will only get better and as for the old guys you mentioned, thier replacements are probably already on the roster.....
91 Ray Edwards DE 2

37 Eric Frampton S R
42 Darren Sharper S 11 (Possible replacement Smith/Tank/Doss etc)

Will those guys be as good as the old Vets?
Who knows, but guess what, I thought I was gonna have to shoot myself when Joey Browner got the axe.
Guess what, He was eventually replaced by someone else who was just as good if not better.
Long story short, players come and go.
What makes the team competitive every year is how well the staff does at finding talent through the draft and FA if necessary to have/train replacements for the guys everyone seems to think aren't replaceable.

We do have relatively young players on our defense as a whole, but our starters' years in the league are 7, 11, 9, 2, 6, 5, 2, 11, 5, 4, 2. That leaves 3 players being 2 years in to the league, and 4 players that are easily getting up their in age, with the others shuffled in between. And not saying that's a bad thing, but those players are our leaders of our defense.
I hope i find the kind of faith that you have in our front office to follow through with selecting the right players to succeed this already extremely successful group.
I think the difference can be attributed to the fact that the Wilfs don't mind spending extra money for scouts as well additional coaches.
Lord knows things might have been different if Ole Red would have spent some extra coin to support Tice and his staff.
Skol Vikes. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
