Re: Top 10 gutsiest performances of all-time
I had to go with Lott.
To knowingly maim yourself for life so you can keep playing tops it for me.
I was suprised to see Favre on the list, not to be coldhearted and maybe it's the purple bias but that's kind of a different deal to me.
I think that once he decided to play it was probably more of an inspiration than a hinderance to him.
I was even more suprised to see he was leading the voting.

My father is still alive, but I can only imagine the anguish of losing a father, especially at somewhat of a young age.
It is a different deal though, you're correct.
But he did have an insane performance that day.
After some consideration I gotta tip my hat to Lott.
That is just crazy and better sums up "Gutsiest".

I have to go with Youngblood...DE playing with a broken leg.
Also, can't believe they didn't mention TO...as much as I don't like him, he played hurt (and played very well) in the Super Bowl loss.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

I don't know if it's because it occurred over a month after his injury or what, but IMO that's top 5 just because of how well he really played. 9 catches for 122 yards on a bum ankle against the Patriots, in the Super Bowl is nuts.

To do that, you need to be mentally strong.
To be a good QB, you need to be mentally strong, therefore not as gutsy.
Impressive? Yes, most gutsy performance ever? no.
Lott gets my blood, followed by Youngblood.
