    Tony Dungy may retire

    As reported on KFFL

Colts | Dungy mulling over future?
    Mon, 16 Jan 2006 13:06:29 -0800

Reggie Hayes, of the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, reports there is a chance Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy does not return to the team in 2006. Dungy is speculated to be mulling over retirement but will assess his situation with the team during the early stages of the offseason.

Interesting. I hope he stays the course. I can see why though, with a team like the Colts had this year and they fold he is probably thinking will there ever be a better opportunity. I'm sure he has enough coin invested to do whatever he wants.

Then Gruden can take over the Colts, win another Superbowl, and prove to the world once again what a great coach he is...

I would not be surprised. His family is not done healing. I know I would be in pain for a LONG time if one of my kids died.

    Gruden is a loser. JK

Didn't even get out of the wild card round this year.

That would suck butt if Dungy did retire and someone took the Colts there next year. What is the saying, always the Bridemaid never the Bride.

    I hope he doesn't retire.

Colts are going throught he same thing that the Vikes, Eagles and until recently the Broncos went through. Time will mend all wounds and losses.

I dont think anyone would blame him nor would many be surprised. Dungy is a family man first football coach third or fourth. What ever he decides I wish him well.

I really hope that Dungy comes back, he should have a SB rig from TB and has done nothing but good in Indy. It would be sad for the NFL to lose such an amazing coach.

    UPDATE

Colts | Dungy thinks he will return
    Mon, 16 Jan 2006 15:14:25 -0800

Updating an earlier report, the Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy plans to return next season, but left the possibility of retirement. "I really don't know how I'll react the next few days," said Dungy, who lost his 18-year-old son to an apparent suicide in December. "I think I'll be back. But it will really be the first time I've had to think about it." Dungy said he will spend the next few days with his wife and children. "I think this will be the first time I'll really get to reflect on things and not be on autopilot. So we'll have to see what the next few days bring."
