Titans game: leave your 'raw' QB in and let him learn

I was interested to see that Jeff Fisher left QB Vince Young in, in the final Titans pre-season game against the Packers. He only pulled Young with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd. Why ? Well, he wanted his young, "raw" QB to learn on the job, when mistakes don't cost you a regular season game. I like that approach. Of course, if you have Peyton Manning, you don't have to do that. But if you have a "raw" QB, any reps he can get are good.

The thought of course then crossed my mind: why didn't we do that against Dallas ? What would it have cost us to leave T-Jacks in for 3 quarters (we pulled him after one series of very inconsistent passes and bad decision-making).

My thoughts exactly. I do not understand this. The only argument would be injury but that can happen in the season too.

Well let's be honest his "RAW" QB was ROY last year. So It's not the same type of "RAW" as TJackson. Also his "RAW" talent won the National Championship. So let's not kid ourselves VYoung will develop from the extra reps. TJack will but at some point "RAW" talent can lose confidence. But it's pretty gutsy no the less to leave his meal ticket in the oven so long.

bc that was youngs 3rd preseason game remember he didnt play the first because he got b enched for breaking a team rule... tarvaris played more in his 3rd preseason game too

Dead on. Everyone jumped on Fisher over this, but noone mentioned that most QBs play three quarters in their third game of action. That is why he left him in. If it had been his fourth game, he would not have been in there.
