Better to find a young RG in the draft or free agency.
excerpted:
Timmerman, 35, saw his string of 204 consecutive regular-season and postseason games end late last season because of cracked ribs. He played only one snap in the Rams' last three games of 2006. But Timmerman played noticeably better in '06 than he did the previous season, when multiple injuries and operations resulted in no offseason preparation and a subpar '05 campaign.
Timmerman was released Feb. 26, with coach Scott Linehan saying the Rams were going with a youth movement on the offensive line, which included Richie Incognito taking over at Timmerman's right guard spot.

So, if the youth movement used by the Rams as a reason to let him go in favor of Incognito, why shouldn't the Vikes do the same?; i.e. go with a youth movement by demoting or releasing Hicks in favor of a YOUNGER replacement...?

I like Hicks as a Reserve, but when they figure out to move Johnson back to RG where he will do great. That will solve alot of problems on the Right side of the line.

ENNNNTTTTT ! Wrong, Double J!
I forgot to mention that M.Johnson is already an upgrade over Hicks.
Timmerman wouldn't be an upgrade over Johnson.
A rookie with more potential than M.Johnson would be an upgrade over Johnson, but Timmerman isn't.

He missed only 3 games, he might not have a long future, but he'd certainly be an upgrade for a year or two.
OK, so why did the Rams dump him?
Apparently, you missed THAT part, as well as the details as to his FREQUENT, RECENT INJURIES, and his age.

M.Johnson is a better option for the Vikings.
So, if the Vikings never acquire Timmerman, they never need to dump him.
