Time to consider other MVPs than QBs, RBs

Time to consider other MVPs than QBs, RBs

WRs like Owens, defenders like Bailey, Merriman all worthy of top honor

The Most Valuable Player award in the NFL is tarnished. Its meaning has been reduced to little more than a popularity contest....

In 1971, Minnesota Vikings' defensive tackle Alan Page was cited and in 1986, New York Giants' linebacker Lawrence Taylor was honored. Since Taylor, only quarterbacks and running backs have won.

:P I don't think that steroid cheater, Merriman should be considered for anything, since I question his entire career (he was cheating until he got caught). I don't want the NFL to turn into the MLB, looking the other way and playing dumb. We don't need a "Barry Bonds of football".

I do agree that the usual suspects of QB and RB for MVP is tired. I'd like to see more defensive linemen and linebackers get the honor. Throw in a few safties, too!

    Great thread, peeps!

Unless you score points, you aren't going to get much consideration for this award. I say ibn today's game the fans want offense. That said I vote for Adrian Peterson, for Rookie of the Year, and Antoine Winfield for MVP.

    How about Kevin Williams?

    How about Jason Taylor?

    How about Zach Thomas?

    How about Alan Faneca?

    Anyone but Urlacher.

Yes, but I didn't want to be the one to consider him first, hahaha! I realize the Urlacher hate is alive and well, but when you're that good, the haters will circle the wagons.

Like him or not, Brian is one of the BEST in the game today and if you had a chance to acquire him, you WOULD. Anyone that says otherwise is lying.

I wish he played for the Vikings, but he plays for our rivals... hence the hate.

And he didn't lead the league in tackles last year (Thomas, whom had over 20 more) or sacks. Calling him the "Best" is laughable.
