Schwarzenegger said Tuesday he wants the NFL to return to the Los Angeles area - with two teams.

After meeting with a group of NFL owners, Schwarzenegger said he was there to make sure "we're getting not only one NFL team to the Los Angeles area, Southern California, but to actually get two teams. That's why I came. Why limit it?"

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue and a committee of 11 owners met to hear proposals from Los Angeles and Anaheim. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle were there to make separate presentations but joined the governor for a joint session.

"There is enough room and enough audience to have two teams," Schwarzenegger said. "We just have to all work together and make it happen."

Los Angeles, the country's second-largest television market, has been without an NFL team since the Raiders and Rams both left after the 1994 season. When the NFL expanded in 2002, the new team went to Houston after Los Angeles leaders couldn't agree on a suitable site for the team.

New York Giants chairman Steve Tisch, a longtime Los Angeles resident who is on the committee, said it was unlikely two teams would be added in Southern California at the same time.

He isn't happy unless he gets two teams. What a greedy SOB.

    Ha..Ha..Ha..Ha He said joint session.

He must be high. What makes him think they can support one?

Re: The Terminator wants two NFL teams.

And as for L.A. not being a football town...

The Trojans averaged something like 85,000 fans a game..

I remember last season, when the Trojans played Arizona here in L.A., there were 90,000 fans there, and across town, on the SAME day, UCLA played Cal in front of something like 75,000 fans. 165,000 people were at football games in L.A. on the SAME day...

    You're right, L.A. isn't a football town.

Now when the Raiders left, they STILL had good attendance....

Nowhere near the amount that would JUSTIFY a move..

It was Al Davis being greedy. !!

Now the Rams, NOBODY cared about them...

They WERE 2nd fiddle to the Raiders the day that the Raiders came to town...

    They are NOT missed....

But that was Anaheim.. NOT L.A. !!!!!!!!!

Vikesoto didn't know it was that big of a deal.

Maybe LA should start liking the Chargers though! Peace Braw!

Last time I checked, San Diego is about as SO as you can get in Cal.

Nice City BTW, loved San Diego.
