Thread: T-Jack vs Whitehurst

Who knows what's really true but there's been plenty of rumors of Tarvaris going to Seattle...

ESPN’s John Clayton offered an interesting possibility on 710 AM on Thursday afternoon, speculating that Seattle may be cooling on the idea of offering Matt Hasselbeck and proposing that the Seahawks may shift their attention to free agent quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, instead.

Jason LaCanfora of NFL.com thinks the Seahawks could be a landing spot for QB Tarvaris Jackson.

So if it does happen to come down to Charlie Whitehurst and Tarvaris Fox Jackson III battling it out for the starting job for the Seahawks, which one do you think wins it?

Do you mean wins or is given? Jackson has never won a spot where the competition was really open.

And keep in mind, Whitehurst was backing up Billy Volek for the first 4 years of his career and most recently a year behind Hasselbeck. We're not talking about someone who has beat out his competition either.

Whitehurst must be happy as hell reading that, the squawks entry in FA conjures up Jackson as the man brought in to provide competition. So basically Whitehurst is safe as what team is going to bring in a QB via FA and then have him take over from the current available QB.
Would be like the Vikes bringing in a QB, such as Sage Rosenfels, and giving him a fair chance to beat out the incumbent QB.....

The implication was that Jackson might start...in which case Seattle goes nowhere.

that would be the ultimate fail for Whitehurst, getting beaten for the job by Jackson. Time to hang up the boots if that happens.

Seattle is WCO team and Jackson is not a WCO QB. He should be looking to go to a team where he would be a better fit to the offense.

I would say the teams he should look to are:

Dallas
San Diego
Pittsburgh
Jacksonville
(Those teams have solid starters but he could be a backup).

As a starter the list is really, really short of teams tha could use his skill set ( Strong arm, limited ability to read defenses, lack of touch on short passes)

I am thinking Oakland might be his best shot at being a starting QB outside the possibility Childress gets another HC job and gives him the job uncontested again.
