Re: T. Gonzalez on the open market?

    Bottom line:

Our tight ends block. That's about it.

There is no reason to spend that type of money when we have 2 talented TE's on the roster.

Wiggy has proved to be clutch, yet he gets ONE PASS per game.

Not enough, if you ask me.

This discussion should move to the dead thread forum within 48 hours, because I see no buts about it. Tony G would be a waste of money. The only thing he is good for is scoring in Madden games.

EDIT: His new nickname should be: "T-Gone"

    From PFT:

GONZALEZ FRANCHISE TENDER WOULD BE SKY HIGH?

Though the Chiefs would retain the ability to slap the franchise tag on tight end Tony Gonzalez, we're hearing that the tender could be so high that the Chiefs would choose not to do it.

We're trying to track down the information necessary for doing the calculation, but it's possible that the franchise number will be in the eight figures.

    Stay tuned.

I don't know if Jimmy K will be back next year unless he takes a huge pay cut, he is making over 3 million a year and for a blocking TE that is way to much money that can be used for more critical areas.

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Just cause our coaching staff doesn't think that our TEs can catch or run routes or for whatever reason they aren't utilizing the position of TE doesn't mean that TG would be underutilized.

Caine, I don't have a problem with JK's blocking, just his catching!
I don't have a problem with JW's catching, only his blocking.
If JK is getting 3 million, there is the money to pay TG.
I like JK, but he has not lived up to his pay grade.
I liked JK coming out of ND and always wanted him to succeed, but it might be time for a change.

JK definately makes a better FB then a TE

When T-Rich retires in a year or two, that is when we might want (need) JK on the team.

When do you cut your losses and hope for something as good or possibly something better.

The guy can't run with a football in his hands, he falls down after a couple of yards without anyone touching him!

Which is fine. Because if your running your FB it's usually for 1-2 yards anyway. If he can plow through people and he does, then he has done his job. Truth is he has been pretty ineffective as a TE since day one.

If he does go to another team I would be very surprised if he goes as anything other then a FB. He needs a team that runs the I formation and he can be blocker and short gain man.
