Surprise teams in 2006
Anyone have any surprise team predictions for 06? Like teams with losing records or that didnt make the playoffs last year that you think will make the playoffs or win their division this year.
In the AFC i really think the Browns will compete for a playoff spot this year even though it will be very tough. I really like the way Romeo Crennel coaches and think he will do even better this year.
In the NFC im looking for the Rams to be good enough for a playoff spot maybe even win the division. The Seahawks are soft imo and wont do as well without hutch (good one vikes! )

Re: Surprise teams in 2006
The Saints, with Drew Brees coming in there offense will be vastly improved. If McCallister can stay healthy that will only help the passing game with is complimented with Joe Horn, and Donte Stallworth. Also, with Bennett they have a pretty decent back up, who can give them a home run threat on occasion. The defense is what will most likely keep this team out of the playoffs, but look for them to be competitive.

Re: Surprise teams in 2006
We all said the Cardinals would do well last year.. And look how that turned out.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say my surprise team for 2006 will be the Oakland Raiders.
I don't know why.. I just have a feeling. I think they could take their division. I think the Chargers will have a difficult adjustment with Rivers under Center, the Chiefs, despite Larry Johnson, I believe are getting too old, and the Broncos will somehow manage to get their annual 9 wins, but they will have to fight it out with Oakland to take the division.
Just pure speculation, mind.

Re: Surprise teams in 2006
It all depends on what you consider surprises.
When it comes time for the season to start I think that many people will be picking the Cardinals to make the playoffs ... so I don't think they will qualify as a surprise ...
Right now I think in the AFC the teams that could jump past the experts could be the Raiders and Browns ... but I do not think either makes the playoffs. My AFC playoffs prediction is Miami, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, San Diego, New England and Jacksonville ... so I dont think there will be much in the surprise category.
In the NFC I definitely see us as a surprise ... I figure most will pick the Bears to repeat ... but it will be our division ...
NFC picks are Dallas, Minnesota, Carolina, Seattle, Arizona and Philly ... so I guess I am saying Minnesota and Philly are surprises cause I don't think most people will pick them ...
Browns could sneak up ... but Charlie Frye?
