Super Bowl massacre averted at last minute

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/108361

    Holy Shit.

A distraught Tempe man was within sight of the Super Bowl on Sunday with an assault rifle, but a change of heart kept him from unloading 200 rounds of ammunition on the crowd, court records show.

This is fairly big for me... especially considering my wife and I were there at the same time...
    Wow.

Re: Super Bowl massacre averted at last minute

    From pft.com

Of course, it’s unclear whether Havelock would have been able to carry out his plan.
We get the impression that the Super Bowl is a fairly secure event, and we doubt that all 200 bullets would have been fired.
Still, we’re hoping that the NFL has included potential threats like this in its overall planning, and that even more attention will be paid to this type of incident as preparations are made for future Super Bowls.
I am not sure exactly how this guy drove up to the arena parking lot as the article says.
When we went there all of the roads were closed off all the way to Glendale Ave, and you could only turn south on 95th if you had a pass displayed.
I am wondering if he got there early in the morning or something - before the cops closed it off.
If that is the case, I would assume that a sweep of the closed off area is part of the SOP.

    Wow.
Think of the memories though. (assuming you lived through it)

You'd have to make a run to the store for a new pair of pants before kickoff.
