    Suggested reading

I'll be over to the TC in November and, as usual will be sure to spend a few hours peace and quiet in Barnes & Noble.
Apart from the obvious part of looking for any Vikings books, can anyone recommend any good football books that may be worth me looking at ? I'm thinking more of ones that look at college team histories, general looks at the game or autobiographies - especially those of players, officials or figures from the earlier years of the game, as they seem to have more humour and strange tales to tell.

Any suggestions would be great and give me something to look out for

"Committed: Confessions of a Fantasy Football Junkie" by Mark St. Amant. This book is hilarious, even if you don't play fantasy football it's highly recommended.

For a sampler of what the book is about you can read an interview with the author by clicking here.

This book isn't football related but I just got done reading it and it is great.

    "Everything you know is wrong."

It is a fast read and very entertaining the author goes through history and points out fallacies that we have been taught or that we assume.

A few good football books are:

    "College Football: History, spectacle, Controversy."
I liked this book, was pretty easy reading and interesting. It's nice because it is a history but it goes a little bit deeper. Some of the arguments I didn't agree with but they were well written.

"The Fifty-Year Seduction : How Television Manipulated College Football, from the Birth of the Modern NCAA to the Creation of the BCS"
I loved this book, but only because I am fascinated with how the media controls so much power, and something as free as sports is influenced to the point of being ridiculous.

"Unsportsmanlike Conduct : Exploiting College Athletes "
Still sitting on my shelf.......it looked good at one time, I will be reading it if I ever get some free time.

"Quotable Lou: The Wit, Wisdom, and Inspiration of Lou Holtz, College Football's Most Colorful and Engaging Coach"
    Essential.

"A View from the Bench: The Story of an Ordinary Player on a Big-Time Football Team"
Another great book, good read. There are more, I just can't think of them.
