Steve Smith on Fred Smoot: 'I destroyed his career'

Does Smith's claim of ruining Smoot's career have any merit? The cornerback played well enough in his first four seasons to land a $34 million contract from the Vikings in 2005. A year and a half later, he was unceremoniously dumped, finishing out his NFL career as a coverage liability with the Redskins.
I had heard some say that it was the Vikings scheme that did his career in, but I do recall his poor tackling and tripping over his own feet against the Bills more than once didn't help

I think he has a point. Smith shattered Smoot's confidence...he never got it back.

Well Smoot was a troublemaker from the get go. As really the guy did it to himself. Skins saw him as a liability rather than an asset!

Lack of talent for an over-rated player is what ruined Smoot's career. Smith just exposed Smoot for what we know he already was.
