Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers completed their visit with President Bush at the White House Friday, June 2. During the 14-minutes ceremony, Mr. Bush said, "Halfway through the season, a lot of people counted the Pittsburgh Steelers out, said you don't have a chance. I kind of know the feeling." Steelers president Art Rooney presented Mr. Bush with a black Steelers jersey with his name and the No. 43 on the back to honor him as the 43rd president of the United States. WR Hines Ward presented him with a Super Bowl XL football autographed by the team. Several players who left the team over the offseason rejoined their old teammates for the White House visit. Free agent QB Tommy Maddox, who was released by the team, did not attend the visit.
