I think this stat may have a stronger correlation than many others...for whatever that's worth.
The Vikings of recent past never gave their RBs 20+ carries and that's what's needed for a consistent 100 yd performance.
If you look at brief analysis of games 1-2 from last year it touches on the issue.

Bottom-line is that I would like to see the Vikings win the ball control battle more often this year.
That would be a step in the right direction.
    Good point.
A real commitment to the run is something we've needed for a long time.
If you checked Parker's rushing stats early on, they were dismal.
I think he had something like 15 net yds. on his first 9 carries.
But did Pittsburgh abandon the run?
    No way.

hopefully yes we do play more wear&tear offense like they've been saying.. even the best defense, if tired, isnt that good

    Good Point Grassdog.
    I checked the game log.
Parker netted 25 yards on his first 13 carries, averaging just 1.92 yards per carry before he finally broke on for 32 yards with 3 1/2 minutes left in the first half.

Don't ever abandon the running game.
Keep pounding on them until the tire and you can rip off a big run!

When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

I don't disagree...with the correlation...it's that stupid stat that they always flash about it.
    It's like...NO DUH!!!!
But the fact remains that MOST OFTEN the reason that the team nets over 100 yards is that they aren't trying to come from behind by passing but are trying to run out the clock.
I don't disagree that a strong ball control offense can win games for you though.

Funny thing though...whenever Emmitt was still with the Cowturds and they were LOSING, I used to root for them to give him the ball so that he could go over 100 but that they would STILL lose!
It happened just enough times that they ended up with 4 or 5 losses against about 80 wins (STILL a phenomenal record)...BUT they STOPPED showing the stupid statistic!
    SATISFACTION AT LAST!!!

I will now be rooting for Parker to get his yards early...then for the Steelers to LOSE!
I want them to lose anyway, so the second part won't be hard for me to do!!!
    Heh heh heh!!!
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
