Thread: Stallworth is now an IGGLE !

Hell, I didn't even know he was avaiable.
The IGGLES again get a steal of a trade, IMO.

Receiving-depleted Eagles get Stallworth from Saints

He filled in well for Joe Horn in New Orleans, so the Eagles are hoping Donte' Stallworth can fill some big shoes in Philadelphia.

On Monday, the Eagles acquired the veteran wide receiver from the Saints for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2007 and linebacker Mark Simoneau. The trade is pending both players passing physicals with their new teams.

Stallworth caught a career-high 70 passes last season for 945 yards and seven touchdowns. The Saints' top receiver, Horn, missed a number of games with a hamstring injury, forcing New Orleans to look for alternatives. Stallworth stepped up, but with the return of Horn and the arrival of Saints first-round pick Reggie Bush -- who is expected to get plenty of touches -- the five-year veteran out of Tennessee became expendable.

He'll be counted on for plenty in Philadelphia, which has been searching for a reliable receiver since Terrell Owens was broke his leg last December. In the offseason, the controversial Owens was moved, ending up in Dallas. The Eagles' depth chart lists Todd Pinkston, who missed all of 2005 with a torn Achilles, and second-year player Reggie Brown as the starting wide receivers.

I'd have gladly offered Napo and a 4th for him anyday....aaaahh.

From a fantasy football newsletter that I get:

The big winner here is QB Donovan McNabb. With Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett, the receiving corps was pretty thin. Stallworth will replace Baskett and should be a very nice addition for McNabb.

As we've been telling you, McNabb's looked great in the preseason games and appears fully healed from the injuries of last season.

We think Reggie Brown remains the primary guy but Stallworth provides an excellent
downfield threat that this offense can use. It's a definite boost for McNabb.

For Stallworth, we see it as a boost as well. We like McNabb throwing to him in this offense more than we did Brees throwing to him in New Orleans. Joe Horn and Reggie Brown are on opposite ends of their careers but Stallworth will likely have to share passes with Brown about as much as he would have with Horn.

As much as McNabb gains, Drew Brees loses. Brees now only really has the aging Joe Horn at WR. Devery Henderson will likely try to move up but he doesn't get anyone excited. It's a significant loss for Brees.

Before we get too excited though, remember that Stallworth has been an underachiever. There's a reason the Saints let him go. From being late to meetings to just generally "not getting it", Stallworth has had some issues there. His talent however has never been in question. If he gets his head on straight, he could excel.

Us getting branch is a strech.
He costs way to much moola and I don't see it happening.
Plus they want like 2 first round draft picks for him.
Now pleae don't tell me the VIkigns are that stupid.


Now I wouldn't mind him on the team but not for that cost.

I guess that the great Hank Baskett must have gotten hurt and he must be out for the season!
Why else would the Iggles need to get another receiver like Stallworth if the have the future hall of famer Baskett?

It turns out if stallworth starts a certain amount of games, that 4th becomes a 3rd. The saints are now shopping that *3rd* round pick for none other than Donnie Edwards.
