Rick Starr, of the Tribune-Review, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers are giving RB Duce Staley a chance to win the job as the team's new short-yardage back, a role previously filled by retired RB Jerome Bettis. Staley will play behind the first offensive line during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 19, Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said. "We've got to give him a chance to run behind the good offensive line, just to get a sense of where he's at," Cowher said Thursday, Aug. 17. Staley said after practice that he won't attach any sense of urgency to the game. The Steelers don't have a long list of options if Staley can't fill their needs.
