You'll recall that immediately following Super Bowl XLII, I made a post to the effect that the 2007 New England Patriots had taken the mantle of "biggest choke in NFL history" away from the 1998 Minnesota Vikings with their loss to the New York Football Giants....

This is so tough to say because I am a fan of one team and the other lost to a Giants team that beat a lot of great teams in the playoffs.

Thanks for the read my friend.

I would go with the Pats if for no other reason than it would be more disappointing to watch your team lose a SB than a NFC Championship game.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

98 Vikings lost to a 14-2 team. 07 Pats...a 10-6 wild card. No comparison, plus we were able to break 20 points.

Not to mention....have it be your only loss of the year.

There is one common denominator in both of those games.

Does that make Moss the biggest playoff bust of all time?

-98 NFC title game vs Atlanta
-99 NFC playoff game vs the Rams
-00 NFC title game vs NYG
    -08 SB vs NYG

Those are some pretty big games that he didn't rise to the occasion in.

Yeah, this is pretty much right on.

    I don't think it's close.
You go 18-0 and then you lose to one of the worst teams ever to advance to the Super Bowl?
So much worse than losing in the NFC championship game to the #2 seed.

I think it does, even if he played okay in a few of those.
I would only really criticize Moss' play in the NFC Championship against the Giants.
He was good in the Rams game, and in the other two his QBs really let him down.
Cunningham and Brady just couldn't throw Moss a good ball in those games.
Nonetheless, he has been involved in some of the worst losses of the past 10 years.
When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

People forget how good that Atlanta team was.

The Vikings were superior, but they were no slouches.

There were many more chokes that are worthy of mention, but, the author put some effort into making the comparisons.
    Fun read.
