Smoot: 'Nothing happened on that boat'

Smoot: 'Nothing happened on that boat'

A little more than a year after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges for his role in the Vikings' infamous boat party in October 2005, Fred Smoot told a Washington newspaper "nothing happened on that boat."

Yes, but it was McKinnie who was feasting on bearded clams.

Fred Smoot is at it again. After a disappointing 2005 season, the cornerback attempted to blame many of his problems on former coach Mike Tice and his staff...

“Look at the criminal charges: Disturbing the peace. A $1,000 fine,” Smoot told the Washington Times. “Do you think that’s what it would’ve been if anything had happened? … No one touched a woman. There were no DUIs. We were driven home in limos. As soon as we were accused, it was like, ‘They’re football players. They must be guilty.’ Yes, we drank, but we were all old enough to drink. There were women on the boat, but no one touched them. There was no sex party. We’re smarter than that.”
Would he be saying this if he was still here?

Probably not. They were told to keep mum while they were Vikings. It will be interesting to see if Moe & Daunte support his claim.

I for one believe it was all blown out of proportion myself, which it was.

It may have been overplayed in the media, but I feel that saying 'nothing' happened is an overstatement.

Weren't there some pictures in some magazine. And the courts did decide that at least 'something' happened on that boat.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

The only pictures I heard of were ones they were looking for that they thought had been taken. I never saw or heard of any actual pictures that were taken on the boat & published.

I'm sure something happened too, but it wasn't like a scene out of Caligila like the press lead us to believe at first.

The one overplaying it the most and causing most of the "stir" was the lawyer for Al & Alma's.

I still think he had dollar signs in his eyes & he thought he was looking at a big payday.

The one thing I wonder about is if the girl was as really traumatized as the lawyer stated, why was there never a law suit? I think he blew that out of proportion as well.

Weren't it that Maxim Magazine that claimed to have some pictures. I never really know what were on in there. Or even what issue it were.
