Thread: Smoot not optimistic about playing in DC next year

When asked if he felt that if there was no deal before season's end, then there'd be no deal at all, Smoot said, 'Yeah, that's how I think.'

Smoot would be welcomed with open arms by this Viking fan if he decided to sign with the Vikings next year...from what I have seen of him (I live near DC, so I get all the Redskins games), he is a very good CB and would easily supplant BWill as the starter (in which case, I would recommend that the Vikings move him to safety and sit either Russell or Chavous).

Yeah, smoot would be awesome with winfield. Is brian williams a FA, I can't remember? If he is, it wouldn't make much sense to sign him and try him at safety, a position we don't know how good he would be at. If he isn't a FA at the end of the year, i would like the move to safety, or at least try it. It would also be nice to have him at #3 Cb, if we could somehow get smoot, woodson, or buchanon, and draft a good safety in the 1st round.

Is Smoot RFA or UFA???

I'd doubt he would want to come here after what he saw this past week, especially if his remarks and comments are like that. :|

I think Champs words to him would negate the Vikings as a place where he would play football.

He might like the scheme possibly, he might like the guys but as people as respect D footballers????????

The only thing we could lure him with is Money but then he would look at Red and Hightail it outta here.

Maybe new ownership would be enough for someone to overlook the criteria they just set for themselves.

We got to get someone to help out back there.

i think he would do it for the money if we offered him enough regardless of what champ says. maybe hed see our potential.

What kind of compensation would the skins get if someone signed him?
