SI's Michael Silver ranks the NFL owners
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/michael_silver/06/27/ownerrankings/index.html?eref=si_nfl
23. Zygi Wilf, Vikings
When Wilf was about to take over the Vikes in May 2005, then-owner Red McCombs declared, "It looks like Zygi's going to be the biggie." A little more than two years later, the question is, "Big what?" Minnesota's stadium situation is a mess, with no escape from the Metrodome (save a possible move to L.A.) on the horizon. The team's starting quarterback is... uh... who is it again? The head coach is, uh, you know, that bald guy. Meanwhile Wilf, who vowed to cut the players responsible for the infamous 'Love Boat' incident of '05, still pays big money to the prime organizer. "I don't think he realized when he bought the team that this ain't real-estate development," one owner says of Wilf. "This is hard work if you want to turn something around." Suddenly, to Vikings fans, McCombs isn't looking so loony.

Re: SI's Michael Silver ranks the NFL owners
A few suprised me.
8. Wayne Huizenga, Dolphins - Thier draft this year alone, then throw in the whole Culpepper afair and this should show you that this ship isn't being run up to standards the last 3-5 years.
11. Jimmy Irsay, Colts - All the way down here at 11.
The colts have been nothing but consistent.
Great coach, nice facilities.
Should be higher.
16. Bob Harlan/Green Bay Packers Inc. (Brett Favre)
He said it not me.
Brett runs that ship.
20. Al Davis, Raiders - Thought this guy would be lower than this.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Um, Smoot plays for Washington now.Meanwhile Wilf, who vowed to cut the players responsible for the infamous 'Love Boat' incident of '05, still pays big money to the prime organizer.
And McCombs isn't looking good to anybody.Zeus wrote:

Re: SI's Michael Silver ranks the NFL owners
Daniel Snyder ranked 5th.
That is unbelievable.
Sure he spends alot of money on free agents, but what have they won?
He overpays for free agents.
Acts more like a kid in a candy store than an NFL owner.
Al Davis number 20, c'mon get real.
The Raiders are the laughing stock of the league.
Put Davis right before William Clay Ford if that high.

That is probably who he ment, but I would save "the prime organizer" title for the person who organized it, paid for most of it, chartered the boats, etc."NodakPaul" wrote:

The author was just looking for a line to use.
Who cares if it was accurate or not, it is just journalism, right?Zeus wrote:

Re: SI's Michael Silver ranks the NFL owners
I think Wilf will move up the rankings once he starts developing all the land he is buying right now. If Wilf picks good football mines to run the team and just focuses on what he does best(land developing) the organization will be in good hands.Perhaps even more improbably, he and Jonathan are in the process of making Foxborough, Mass., a nice place to visit, thanks to the $350 million that will build Patriot Place, a retail and entertainment complex in the shadow of Gillette Stadium.
