Sid Hartman: Tice deserves chance to be top coach again

Preparing his Jaguars offense for a playoff game against the Patriots, he said lessons he's taken from days with the Vikings would help him in the future.

While Mike Tice's name is being mentioned as a possible candidate for the Dolphins job and other coaching vacancies, the former Vikings head coach is more concerned in his present role as Jaguars assistant offensive coach. He's preparing his team for Saturday's playoff game against the Patriots.

"Oh, I've been working past midnight every night, going in at 6:30 a.m., so I've been crazy trying to figure a way to score at least one touchdown against these [guys]," Tice said from Jacksonville.

Tice and Bill Parcells, the Dolphins' new executive vice president of football operations, both have Jimmy Sexton as an agent. So unless Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano is handed the job as rumored, look for Tice to get an interview. There are also reports that Sparano would prefer the Ravens job to the Dolphins...

Don't you have to be a top coach before you can be one again? ???

I've always had a soft spot for Tice... not so sure why. I hope he can be a coach again, and a winning one at that.

I hope he does get another shot, and this time with a team that has an owner that will spend money, give him a full staff.
I'm not gonna go on my Tice rants that i have on another board, let's just say i'm bitter he got canned and i'll leave it at that.

I loved him as a player and found him entertaining as a coach but to label him as a "Top Coach" is a bit of a stretch.

Good luck in the interview Coach Tice.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I think by top coach they mean head coach

And he deserves another shot.. He never really had a horrible season here

And with he had to work with I think he did very well

I would like to see him get a shot. I always liked him for some reason. It is funny I have a friend that looks exactly like him.

Eventually he will

He will continue to do a good job in Jax and someone will notice and offer that shot
