Shell confident Raiders return to mediocrity

Art Shell confident he can return the Raiders to their past mediocrity

Back coaching the Raiders after 11 years away from the game, Art Shell is confident he can restore the black and silver to its past glory.

“I went 35-29 over my last four years with the Raiders from 1991 to 1994 with two playoff appearances,” said Shell. “While to some franchises they may seem rather middling, it’s pretty heady territory for the Oakland Raiders. And that’s the territory I’ve been charged with getting us back to.”

Shell feels the current Raiders squad is just a year or two away from an 8-8 season.

“We’re close. We have a rather unimpressive mix of players, and that’s the key,” said Shell. “A few more unremarkable drafts and a somewhat misguided signing or two, and we’ll be right back where we want to be – creating false hope among our fans with a slightly above average team, and selling a lot of tickets along the way by pretending we are far better than we actually are.”

Way to go Art. I love a person who doesn't set high goals for a team!

Won't Grandpa Al fire him again if it takes awhile to reach 8-8?
