Re: Sharper could stay in division and talking to Saints

For Sharper, "playmaker" is synonymous with "freelancer".

I m like a Ja Rule poster, cause I'm off the wall.

Sharper has never been good for us. He has always been a ballhawk and nothing more. He misses tackles ... gets caught out of position ... and gets burned in one-on-one coverage.
He does have talent and makes up for it sometimes, but as a whole I will not miss him one bit. I think he is far past his prime. I was not totally against him coming back ... but his bitching and moaning about "the scheme" is childish girl shit ... fuck him.

    Kudos... Well said man

He is overrated because he has an engaging personality and he has made lots of interceptions in his career.
The average fan buys into that. They do not see or understand his constant screw ups. They just see an interception and think he is amazing.... Now that his big plays are dropping I do not see much benefeit of re signing Sharper... When he was consistently making big plays you could justify having sharper

Birk is overrated the same way. His skills have diminished greatly. Yes hes a great guy and a good center but he is not what people make him up to be as a player. He does have some serviciable years left but since he is a free agent it may be best to move on.

Well I enjoy the kudos and don't want to completely hijack a thread about D-Sharp ... but I disagree that Birk is "overrated the same way." I still think Birk is a good center ... not great or anything ... but good. I would personally like to keep him over what we have and over what is still out there.
I do not feel the same way about Sharper. I am happy with the years we got out of Sharper ... and would have no problem wishing him well if he was not making excuses for his poor play like a fucking baby.

I was thinking the same thing. Remember when Smoot picked us off the year after he left us?
Doesn't mean we are letting good players go, but it's just a coincidence that always when we play former vikings they do good [usually]

“Looking back, I was upset I didn’t get as many chances as I would have liked,” he said.
“But I had to take a backseat, to help us out as a defense.
Sometimes, you have to do things for the betterment of the team, and that’s exactly what I did.”

He said that the Tampa Two requires safeties to be “protectors,” and he considers himself more of a “playmaker.”
One thing about Sharpe. At least he is open about his fit in the Cover 2.
Makes me wonder why he would want to move on to another team that uses that scheme?

My guess is he would rather try to get a stint with a team were he could "Free Lance" a bit more in a effort to increase his stats.....Can you say HOF? :

So what you are really saying is "FUCK WINFIELD & his childish girl shit", because he did just as much bitching, if not more about it, than Sharper did.

    Love the double-standards.

I'm still laughing about the TD that Winfield gave up that the Sharper haters blamed in Sharper being "out of position"

Re: Sharper could stay in division and talking to Saints

Guess I'm the only one who likes Winfield AND Sharper.

I like almost all of our players, to be honest.
There's one I think needs to go away, and I feel kinda bad for him, but...well, such is life.
