Thread: September 6 Deadlines-Salary & Injury

Wel, we're only a little over a week away from the 53-man roster deadline.
Players will be hitting the waiver wire faster than a troll gets banned from PP.O.
I expect there will be a lot of folks wanting to pick up every piece of trash that hits the wire.
Interesting time of the year.

Here are some important upcoming dates:

SEPTEMBER

2: Roster cut-down to maximum of 53 players on Active/Inactive List by 6 p.m., New York time. Clubs may dress minimum of 42 and maximum of 45 players and Third Quarterback for each regular season and postseason game.

2: Simultaneously with the cut-down to 53, clubs that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must take one of the following options: place player on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non-Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable; ask waivers; terminate; trade; or continue to count him on Active List.

3: Claims on players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 12 noon, New York time.

3: After 12 noon, clubs may establish a Practice Squad of eight players by signing free agents who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit or who were on the 45-player Active List for less than nine regular season games during each of any Accrued Season(s).

6: All clubs are required to file a personnel (injury) report with their conference information manager by 4 p.m., New York time, on this date and every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday thereafter prior to a regular season game. Clubs playing Thursday games are required to file injury reports beginning on Tuesday.

6: Beginning at 4 p.m., New York time, Team Salary includes all players receiving compensation under their 2006 contracts. Top 51 rule is no longer in effect.

7: After 4 p.m., New York time, any new or altered incentives renegotiated in a pre-existing contract for the 2006 season automatically will be deemed "Likely to be Earned" for 2006.

7-11: Regular Season opens.

Now things will start to get interesting. I wonder which WR's will get released??

not only what WR's..... what CB's.. we have so many DB's on our roster atm, so many young DB's... who will it be|!?!?!?!?

A whole lot of talented guys aren't going to make this team. New depth at many positions will push some familiar names out. Not only CB's and WR's, but look for a last years starter or two from the O-line to maybe get the pink slip. Goldberg, and Lewinski come to mind.
Always interesting to see who becomes available around the league. Maybe a good KR'r.

The last gasp of air for some of the Vikings squad will probably be this Thursday evening.
The waiver wire will be in a traffic jam the rest of the week.

It will def be intersting to see who gets axed and who gets tapped.

u gotta wonder if they'll keep a sport open for some vet who gets the axe to fill in something we are missing..

also.. who do u keep on the practice squad?
