Seahawks sign Matt Flynn
The Seahawks have signed QB Matt Flynn to a three-year, $26 million contract.
It appears Tarvaris Jackson's reign as starting quarterback will be just as short as most people expected it to be.

T-Jack will beat him out.

So if TJ was given what Marty describes as "Starter money", what is this, future HOF money?

I am sure we will get to hear all season from Marty how Tarvaris was given the short end of the stick again.

They only gave him a year and it was shortened by a rare injury. How could they possibly evaluate him given those circumstances?
I am sure there are a dozen or so teams waiting to snap him up including Cleveland, who I am sure is already trying to work out a trade for him.
Cleveland sends their first to Seattle and Seattle sends Cleveland their QB that they can build around.

Really speaks volumes of the amount of faith the Seahawks have in T-Jack when they bring in a guy who has started two games in his professional career and pay him $26 million to take his job.

Yet its "only" 10m guaranteed and "only" a 3 year contract..
Ive been reading up on this signing and many fans expect him to compete with the starting job with Jackson and a lot of fans of the Seahawks liked what Jackson did last season.

"Most will assume that Tarvaris Jackson will take a back-seat to Flynn. Don't count on it. This Summer will be the first true open competition for the quarterback position in the Pete Carroll era."
Flynn picks the Seahawks | ProFootballTalk
"Tarvaris Jackson has a year as the starter, and six total years in the system that Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell uses."

Jackson has a year with no guaranteed money the same thing Whitehurst was sitting with last year, a 4 mill salary that if he was cut before the start of the regular season he doesn't get. Jackson got his 2 mill guaranteed (signing bonus last year) plus a 2 mill salary. As for many fans expecting him to compete....well many also expected him to compete last year so what fans get and expect don't always happen.

Coach Pete Carroll said Sunday that Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson will compete for the Seahawks' quarterback job in training camp.
Carroll emphasizes "competition" at every position, but there's little doubt that Flynn will enter camp as the favorite to win the job. Jackson has settled in as a backup-caliber quarterback, and the Seahawks are paying Flynn in excess of $6 million per year. Jackson's 2012 base salary is $4 million, none of it guaranteed. If Flynn outplays Jackson by a large margin in camp, a pink slip for T-Jack would save Seattle quite a bit of cap space
