Screwed the Pooch - week 2

Who did the best job with the POOCH?

Green Bay - Blew a 14 point 1st quarter lead to get beat 34 -27 at home.
We don't know when GB will ever have another 14 pt lead.

Philly - Mulltiple TOs to help the G-men into a 17 point 4th quarter to tie the game then let them win it in OT.

St.Louis - I don't know what they did except lose to SF.
I forgot that SF even had a team in the NFL.

Carolina - Fox Gambled and it didn't pay off.

I would say it has to be the Philly D.
They let the Jints score 24 unanswered points in the 4th quarter/OT in their house.
    No excuse for that.

It's a tie for me between Philly and Carolina.
I only saw highlights on the Philly game, but it their defense completely collapsed in the 4th quarter.
Some credit has to go the Giants of course, but there were several plays where there was nobody anywhere near the Giant's receivers.
Philly handed them the win after dominating for 3 full quarters.
    It was pathetic.

That ridiculous lateral play probably cost Carolina the game.
What in the hell was Fox thinking!?!?!
I think Fox takes the cake for stupidest play of the day.
They were beating up on our offense the entire 2nd half.
There was absolutly no reason to try something like that win your in the lead....especially when your in the lead and shutting down the opposing offense play after play!
So while I give Fox/Carolina my vote for the most stupid play of the day, I must also say that it was my favorite play of the day!

I think that the Eagles did the best job with the Pooch.

(13:53) (Shotgun) E.Manning pass short right to P.Burress to PHI 16 for 23 yards (B.Dawkins). FUMBLES (B.Dawkins), recovered by NYG-T.Carter at PHI -6. TOUCHDOWN.

Amani Toomer, 22 Yd pass from Eli Manning (Jay Feely kick is good), 3:28. Drive: 4 plays, 33 yards in 0:43.

    Jay Feely 35 Yd, 0:07. Drive: 6 plays, 63 yards in 0:51.

OT - Plaxico Burress, 31 Yd pass from Eli Manning , 3:11. Drive: 13 plays, 85 yards in 6:44.

Yes, the bold brings into question the Eagles Defense.

Credit to thet G-men for fighting it out and making the 85 yard drive in OT to seal the deal.
Hate to see the Gints win, but like watching McCryBaby lose.

The only thing I can think of is that he might of had some respect for Brad Johnson being so poised and the possible at home advantage equalling a comeback.
But even if that was so, it was way to risky.

    Philly...NO DOUBT!
To be ahead by SEVENTEEN points only to lose in OT is just ridiculous!
    Made me happy though!!!

Also Philly had the opportunity to bury the Gints in the basement of the NFC East at 0-2, an now they are both sitting at 1-1.

It would have also been a road victory.

Losing the lead was the main reason they win this contest.
They only had to play D to win, a score would have been nice for them, but that didn't happen either.

Did Fox call for the lateral play, or did Gamble just decide to do it?

Thanks to PPE for the awesome Sig.

Fox said in the PC that he called it.
    He took responsibility for it.

I think it was Bill Maas that confused everyone, but it was clear that it was called.
You don't have a player standing back behind the PR guy for no reason.
I thought everyone is suppose to go down and block someone, not stand behind the PR guy and wait for him to get clobbered.
Our guys did a nice job of recognizing it and a Viking put a lick on the recipient of that lateral before it bounce off the turf 10 yards away.
