yeah, but they are trading two decent guys for 1 POSSIBLE starter.... with how bad they are, they should keep every pick they can get their hands on.....

Just like GB, if they were smart, they would trade down to the middle of the first round and pick up another couple picks on the first day... Yes, I am hoping that they are as dumb as ever and will just play it straight.

    Thanks Lotza!

I think this really opens up the possibility that San Fran is looking to move down in the first and add a huge bundle of picks. Hopefully they are banking on getting a good package and then everyone backs out on draft day and we get a sweet deal to move up for Hawk if he falls.

Broncos deal 22nd overall pick to 49ers

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The San Francisco 49ers now have two first-round picks in this month's NFL draft.

The Niners acquired the 22nd overall selection in the draft from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday for picks in the second round and third round.

The Broncos will receive the 37th and 68th overall picks in the deal.

The Niners own the sixth overall pick in the draft as well as No. 22 in the first round.

The New York Jets are the only other team with two first-round picks in the April 29 draft.

The Broncos now own seven picks in the first four rounds. They have the 15th overall selection after moving up from 29th in a deal with Atlanta.

Denver had acquired the 22nd overall pick from Washington in a trade last April.
Interesting move by San Fran. I wonder if they picked up the extra pick because they have two first rounders they want to get, or if they are planning on making some additional moves with their #6 pick.
    Maybe they want Reggie Bush???

I think this trade makes it obvious that the Niners want to shuffle picks around. The rumors for Vernon Davis at No. 6 seem to high on most boards and they may be looking to move down a little and get a few more picks elsewhere ... while having the safety net of another first rounder.
They also could be looking to make a package deal and jump up to go after Reggie Bush ... but I dont know that they would be interested in No. 2-No. 5 ...

Your talking about the 49ers being bad right, because the Broncos did pretty damn well last season.

Re: San Fran trades draft picks!

The Broncos now have more picks in the first four rounds than we do! Looks like we won't get lazy journalists throwing that into their articles about the Vikes to try and bump up their word counts..

But getting back on topic, this sets the 49ers up nicely to make moves on Draft Day. If there's a player that drops down the draft (as happens EVERY year) that the Buccaneers, Bengals, Giants, Bears, Panthers, Jaguars, Jets, Colts, Seahawks or the Steelers covet, you could see one of those teams pushing for their first-round pick and others to trade up to the 49ers spot.

Or failing that the 49ers get another first-round player in a draft that is being characterized as the deepest for some time.

Man that sucks! That's a trade the Vikes should have pulled off. Imagine; trading a 2nd rnd & a 3rd rnd for the 22. We would have 17, 22, a 2nd rnd and a 3rd. We could have trade the 22nd to atlanta or packaged both 1st rounders to move up in the top ten.

Beginnig to think Vikes aren't going to pull off anything major. Just stick with 17 and hope for Greenway, I Guess.

~ They could not afford Reggie Bush. They gave Alex Smith waaaay to much $$$. Thats why Julian Peterson, Andre Carter & Brandon Lloyd are gone
