    Rules question--kinda related to sunday

on sunday, there was a play in the second half where the packers jumped off-sides, so daunte, wisely, went deep to robinson, but he was called for pass interferince. both penelties offset, loss of down.

but say the packers jumped offsides, and the Vikings were called for an offensive holding or other penalty. But the pass to robinson was picked off. what would teh ruling be?? would the penalties offset and it would be GB ball, or would it just be loss of down??

I believe it would still be offsetting penalties, replay of down.

I believe, when ever there is an O flag and a D flag, they off set...Thus, play is negated and played over..

But sometimes other things are taken into account...

I've been drinking, so don't ask me to explain right now..LOL

You're right, they ALWAYS offset if they both happened during the play, no matter what the penalties are.

yah it could just be neutral zone infraction by the defense and a personal foul like chop blocking and they'll offset.

    Thanks Josdin

Actually, there was no loss of down. Basically, the play never happened because of the offsetting penalties. If the Packers had intercepted it, it still would have been our ball because the play never happened.

Offsetting penalties = replay of the down.

yes this is the way it has always worked no matter the play.
