PHOENIX -- Team chairman Dan Rooney said the Steelers will "probably" make a decision next week about whether to install artificial turf at Heinz Field....

Field turf should not be used outside.
Football players are suppose to be dirty

The Packers have a combination of both, maybe that would be a good compramise.

They could change the leagues name to AFL.

You could call it mud wrestling.

With that said, I kindof like the new turf.
Doesn't seem to be as dangerous as the old stuff. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Biggest problem for Heinz was, I believe, playing other games there.
I think Pitt plays there, and I believe they also had HS finals there, but I could be wrong.
In the winter, that kind of use calls for something stronger than pure grass, or you'll end up with a torn up field.
Lambeau held up very well, I thought, during the snow game in the playoffs.
I don't think it's used for anything but the Packers.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Yeah the problem with Heinz field was the amount of games being played on the surface. The Steelers and Pitt Panthers both play their home games there, and they have several high school games on the field every year as well. That's a lot of wear and tear for a grass field, especially by December.
The problem with the Dolphins game this year was that four high school games and a Panthers game were played on the field the weekend before the Steelers played. So they tried to re-sod it and it got drenched with rain and it turned to mush.
