    Re: Ron Rivera

Here is an exerpt and link that explains Rivera's situation.

Rivera's contract allows the Bears exclusive negotiating rights for three weeks after the Super Bowl unless he leaves for a head coach's job, but Jones could make the bidding too rich for the McCaskeys' blood. Would a family employing the NFL's lowest-paid head coach suddenly find it in their hearts, and their wallets, to give Smith $5 million a season to run the team and Rivera $1.5 million to coach the defense?

I can see Rivera going to Dallas as the DC now though..
    Nope, still a lateral move.
Generally a team doesn't have to release a coach from contract unless it is for a promotion.
But if he is made DC / Asst. Head coach then it would be considered a promotion I beleive

Except that Chicago could counter with the same promotion...or a similar one.
No, the ONLY way that we could swoop him out from under the Bores is for the exclusive negotiating period to expire and then offer him more than anyone else to move...and it would have to be ALOT more!
    Ain't gonna happen!
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

With that loss in the SuperBowl i'm sure alot of owners second guessed him.
    Like Brad Childress?

Maybe he does not want to be a head coach.
    Monte Kiffin did not.
If you are good as a coordinator there may be more job security.
