Seriously though hope he recovers fully with no long term damage. I see some people are saying that athletes shouldn't be riding bikes. IMO its no different to being in a car in as much as both can cause you serious injury if you're in an accident.
However if you do ride a bike then at least wear a helmet people ! despite what some bikers might think head injuries are not cool and can be reduced or avoided by wearing a helmet.
Agreed. It is kind of ridiculous to say that pro athletes shouldn't be riding motorcycles because it is dangerous. If it is dangerous for them, it is dangerous to anyone. Now the helmet thing, it's his head I guess. Also, it may have been caused by some other moron out there. I know when I ride my bike about once every week some idiot pulls out right in front of me. :cussing:

Wow, talk about having to eat his own words. Big Ben specifically said after Winslow's accident that he was not worried about riding without a helmet because he wasn't a risk taker like Winslow was. I am not a risk taker either, but I still wear my seat belt in a car becuase you never know what the other idiots on the road are going to do.

    I hope is OK.

Wear a helmet folks. And to the people jumping all over this guy for being on the bike: I understand the stupidity/selfish argument because he is under contract but this is no worse than a mother or father getting on a bike. The true stupidity with Ben is the no helmet, especially since its an issue he has addressed. I hope there are no serious long term consequences

One thing that people forget is that pro athletes have to enjoy life as well - else why earn all the money if you can't enjoy it?
As long as any athlete doesn't do dumb things that do put themselves in danger then let them and lets not start having Orewellian type contracts that forbid them from doing anything outside football.

Winslow was an example of someone being foolhardy - I wouldn't expect any kid to do what he did, whether they were a pro footballer or burger flipper at the local burger bar.

Not to say it was Ben's fault - as mentioned earlier car drivers do dumb things as well

Yeah, they also don't require you to wear a helmet here in Wisconsin, and I think that's ridiculous.

I wasen't suprised when I heard Kellen Winslow Jr. got in a motorcycle accident, because he's done some dumb things throughout his career.

But I was shocked when I woke up and heard that Ben Roethlisberger was in the same accident, because before this happended, it seemed like he was a pretty responsible person.
