Dolphins | R. Williams back in Florida
    Mon, 3 Apr 2006 19:48:40 -0700

Armando Salguero and Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, report Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams returned to South Florida Monday, April 3. He arrived on request from Dolphins head coach Nick Saban. He will join the team's offseason program as he awaits his hearing with the league to be held Monday, April 10. "Nick wanted him to get back into the mix of the offseason program the last time we talked," agent Leigh Steinberg said. "That was last Tuesday. He was headed back to South Florida and I was headed out, but he just asked if Ricky would return." The Dolphins' offense isn't expected to change significantly in 2006 but new offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey is trying to become familiar with his players.

Dolphins | Williams claims herbal supplement as his defense
    Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:28:35 -0700

Jill Martin, of CBS4.com, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams tested positive for an amphetamine substance. Martin reports it's from a herbal medicine that Williams has been taking. If the positive test is upheld, it would be Williams' fourth violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, meaning at least a one-year suspension from the NFL.

Dolphins | Saban testifies on Williams’ behalf
    Tue, 11 Apr 2006 19:37:01 -0700

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban testified on behalf of RB Ricky Williams at his hearing Monday, April 10. According to a source, Saban spoke for about 30 minutes Monday over the telephone. Saban has consistently said that he will support Williams through this process, that he doesn't believe Williams used drugs in this instance, and that Williams is one of the hardest-working players he ever has coached. Williams' attorney, David Cornwell, declined Tuesday, April 11, to comment on the hearing, other than to say he was "optimistic." Cornwell did issue the following statement through a spokesperson. "During Monday's appeal hearing, we presented compelling evidence demonstrating that disciplining Mr. Williams would undermine the integrity of the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse," the statement said. An NFL source indicated that a decision on the appeal could come as early as next week.

Dolphins | Team could go with S. Morris if R. Williams is suspended
    Tue, 18 Apr 2006 08:37:46 -0700

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins RB Sammy Morris could be used as the team's backup to RB Ronnie Brown if RB Ricky Williams gets suspended for the 2006 season. Morris' agent, Mark Slough, said general manager Randy Mueller made it clear the team would be comfortable if Morris was the backup. Slough added, "That's the impression I was given — if Ricky isn't there, Sammy is the guy that would be the backup. That's what he's been told. We believe that to be the case."

I have a feeling that the appeal will go in his favor.. Every other test that he failed, he never appealed it. That tells you right there that he was guilty those times. He is quick to appeal this one, which kinda tells you he knows for sure he didn't take a illegal drug. He is probably on some herbal crap, and doesn't think it is illegal. If the NFL doesn't state herbal stuff, and that crap that showed up in his test doesn't come back as illegal substance, then he is fine..
No way. The NFL does not look kindly on things like this. After his 4th strike (which was the one which lead to the 1-year suspension) he should have KNOWN EXACTLY what he was putting in his body. And been a heck of a lot more careful. How hard would it have been for him to ask one of the Dolphins trainers about the suppliments?
