ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins second-round draft pick Fred Davis did not show up for minicamp practice Sunday, having overslept on just his third day in the NFL.

The team sent security officials to track down the tight end after he failed to arrive as scheduled from a local hotel, where the rookies were housed during the three-day minicamp.

Some security that is. They couldn't even find him sleeping in his hotel.

Reading this gave me a not so good flashback to Dimitrius Underwood. Wikepdia describes that mess:

Underwood had missed most of his senior year, and his coaches at Michigan State warned NFL scouts that he wasn't mentally stable enough to play in the NFL.

After being drafted, he signed a five year, $5.3 million contract in August 1, 1999 but walked out of training camp the next day and never returned, saying he could not resolve the conflict between playing football and serving his Christian faith. The Vikings released him later that month.

I am still ticked about that wasted draft pick.

Bonus pick? Good teams don't speculate in the 1st round on mentally ill individuals. That was a wasted pick.
