Ravens | J. Lewis not a lock to be tagged
Tue, 7 Feb 2006 19:32:44 -0800
Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome suggested Tuesday, Feb. 7, that it is not a certainty RB Jamal Lewis will be given the team's franchise tag. The Ravens have 15 days before an NFL-mandated deadline (Feb. 23) that will force them to either place the tag on their all-time leading rusher or let him become an unrestricted free agent. If they franchise him, they will have to give him a one-year, $6 million tender offer. Asked if a decision has been made on Lewis, Newsome said, "Not really." Asked if the Ravens would let Lewis become a free agent, Newsome said, "It could possibly be that." It appears the only guarantee is Lewis won't be receiving a new long-term deal from the Ravens before free agency begins March 3.

Well that gets rid of one more rumor! Thank god cuz that would be a horrible deal on our part if we did that

the only way they do not tag him is if they think that taylor can be their starting runningback

Not really they are in a good position to be able to draft a RB in round one most likely Lendale White.

I don't want the guy he is past his prime and has been hurt quite a bit the last couple years. As far as I am concerned he can go and play with Aaron Brooks.

He probably doesn't fit the WCO that Childress envisions here...otherwise, he is a back that you at least have to consider...I think that he has a few decent years in him...if nothing else than to keep defenses honest. He will probably still be better than most if he can stay healthy next season.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

I dont see him doing well in the WCO, hell i dont think Jamal, Edge or Alexander would fit good in the WCO. Only person i think would fit good would be Dom Davis is something panned out in houston but i doubt that either. I hope we just give mewelde, Smith and Fason a try at this year.
