Raiders go for a 76 yard field goal
Good Lord.
With 1 second left in the first half, on their own 42, the Raiders opted to go for a 76 yard field goal instead of throwing the hail mary.

Ummm, Cromartie holds the NFL record of 109 yards for returning a missed FG back for a TD.
A hail mary, even if picked off would have been a much safer play, not to mention having a much higher reward and a much better chance of success.

Its not too boneheaded but IMO theres a 5 percent chance he hits an almost 80 yard field goal in a game
Better chance of running a draw or a short pass and lateral or a hail mary then that

Why not?
After last year's week 2 game against Denver I'm pretty confident Janikowski could make a 70-80 yard field goal.
He attempted a 52 yarder, that hit the upright. The very top of the upright.
So after traveling 52 yards, the ball was still 40 feet in the air.
