Raiders: 1st team shut out 2X in season on MNF/ Brayton is a coward

    That's harsh.
Walter ate the dirt 9 times in one game.
    Ouch.

Raiders | Team gets shut out Week 9, sets MNF first
    Mon, 6 Nov 2006 23:00:55 -0800

The Associated Press reports the Oakland Raiders lost 16-0 to the Seattle Seahawks Week 9, becoming the first team to get shut out twice in a season on Monday night. The Raiders lost 27-0 Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers. It was the team's fifth consecutive loss on Monday and the team has been outscored 116-27 during that period. The Seahawks defense sacked Raiders QB Andrew Walter nine times during the game, raising their season total to 44 sacks allowed.

Man, that looked like it hurt.
Brayton is a wuss, Stevens should have laid him out.

BRAYTON READY FOR SOME PRO WRESTLING

Near the end of the Monday night "game" (and we use that term very loosely) between the Raiders and the Seahawks, Raiders linebacker Tyler Brayton punctuated a post-play pushing match with Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens by pushing his kneecap into Stevens' nutsack.

The move prompted a collective "oooooooh" from the sock puppets, and a prompt ejection of Brayton.

Stevens, who apparently was caught square in the biscuits and sausage by Brayton, didn't seem to react in the way that most men would.
But NFL players usually don't wear cups.
So either Jerramy Stevens is the exception to the rule -- or he simply has no testicles.

In 1999, then-Vikings defensive end Duane Clemons was fined $7,500 for punching Cowboys tackle Flozell Adams in the groin during a Monday night game.
In 2004, Saints special teamer Steve Gleason was fined $5,000 for a crotch punch.
Last year, Pats offensive lineman Logan Mankins was fined $7,500 for punching Broncos defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban in the crotch, and then-Rams defensive tackle Damione Lewis was fined the same amount for punching then-Saints center LeCharles Bentley in the LilCharles.

The question, as we see it, is whether new Commissioner Roger Goodell will up the ante.
We've always thought that the fine for this kind of action should be at least five figures, and that a one-game suspension should be considered.

Given the precedent set by past events under Paul Tagliabue's watch, this is a prime example for Goodell to show that there's a new sheriff in town.

And that he plans to get tough on guys who get rough with another man's stuff.

I don't consider a guy a professional who punches another guy in the baby maker.

How does a team with a 4 & 12 record in 2005 get two Monday night appearances plus a primetime appearance on Saturday night Dec. 23rd?

The only reasoning behind it would have to be because Randy Moss dons the Raiders uniform.

I'm sure Moss is part of it.
But the Raiders (as lousy as they've been) are still one of the biggest fan draws in the NFL.
That luster is fading, but it still carries over from their Super Bowls in the 70s and 80s.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

If it is true that Stevens was trying to kick him I would have kneed him in the nuts twice. I agree with Shell on this one. I like how Holmgren is saying the video shows it clear as day and yet Henderson is a cheap shot artist.

    What a blowhard.

If they find Stevens attempted a hit on his manhood they will both be fined. Suspended for the year? LMAO!!! Um no.

    LMFAO!!!!!!!

With situations like these it is always the guy that gets the last hit in that gets in trouble. There is a lot of pinching and ball punching that goes on in the course of a game.

So you're gonna suspend a guy for the rest of the year that kneed someone in the nuts (and I'm sure Stevens had a cheap shot somewhere; there's a history of players saying so) when a guy who STOMPED somone in the face, more than once, with cleats, didn't even get that earlier in the year?

I woulda done the same. Not like the Raiders are going anywhere.
