At first glance, the two surfaces look the same....

Another problem with synthetic fields is the amount of heat produced. Fresenburg conducted a study on a 98-degree day and found the temperature on a grass field to be 105 degrees and the temperature was 173 degrees at field level on a synthetic field.
They got that right. It's murder playing on there when its hot out, especially if it rains a little bit, then all the water vapor just come up and makes it like a sauna.

I think it's just wrong that outside fields use it.
If you play outside you're suppose to get dirty.

Its a maintenence issue. If you have 1 field to share between, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, varsity, jv, and freshman football. It's impossible to maintain grass.
